Hi everyone! Another day of filming done with Adrenalin Rehab out in Tenerife! We were shooting similar trails but this time with a drone too. The trails are so varied as you descend.
We have covered about 30km a day with 2000m descending with Adrenalin Rehab providing uplift to the top of the trail, however there is a daily bus that leaves from the southern towns and takes you up to the top of the mountain and allows bikes. More soon!

Hi everyone! Big day out today with about 30km of riding with 2000m vertical descending filming with Adrenalin Rehab. We rode lots of varied trails, with some rocky fast trails near the top, into gnarly slower rock gardens mid ride and dusty, loose corners descending back into the town near the end.
Today we had locals showing us the trails and at the moment I am the only woman filming with the group so I am having the opportunity to push my riding keeping up with the guys, especially those with racing backgrounds. Quite a challenging day as mid filming I had a pretty big crash going over the bars and landing badly on some rocks. My helmet took most of the impact so will need to properly check it over before I ride again. Luckily however I managed to miss all cactuses! The team are wanting to shoot drone footage later on the week on the same trails so it will be a good opportunity to go back and ride the trails again! More soon! Hi everyone! Slight change of plan today due to weather so the mountain bike days have been changed. I decided to take the day as a rest day and explore some of the towns and beaches of the south of the island.
Some mixed photos of the day - landscapes and food! More soon! Hi everyone! What a day here in Tenerife exploring the south of the island. We have started off the trip with a hike a bike from Vento, through the barancos and ascending Roque del Conde. The view up there is amazing, and we had such a clear evening for a 360 panorama. We hiked up the trail then rode down back the same route which was mostly shepherd trails---- with lots of big rock step downs, tight corners and dust.
We hiked up to the top as a warm up and acclimatisation for the next few days of riding and filming with Adrenalin Rehab. Hydration and nutrition are already proving to be important too with the temperature around 27C all day with little wind when climbing, but riding back down to the town is rad! I'm still trying to get the right setup with tyre pressures and suspension as the trails are a lot more rough than the UK, but tomorrow we are getting an uplift to ride about 2000m of vertical descending so that will be a good opportunity to test out a few different settings. More soon! Hi everyone! Today has been a big travel day with 3 airports and flying with 2 bikes and luggage, but I am now out in Tenerife for a trip with Adrenaline Rehab, who are a Scottish bike holiday company.
Flying in to Tenerife made all the travel so worth it - look at those views, it is pretty hot here though- 24C when we landed late evening - so it may take a bit of time to get used to the heat on the bike. Although Adrenaline Rehab do their own bike rental with their brands of bike, I chose to fly out my own bikes - a Kona Process 153 DL and a Zing CR to make the most of both types of cycling on offer. (Top tip: if you fly with British Airways you can take 1 bike as your hold luggage of up to 23kg) More soon! Hi everyone! How lucky that the Highlands are so accessible to visit and explore! These are from a drive through Glencoe with the most amazing light. The landscape is so beautiful and vast, so much to adventure through!
I will also be collaborating with bike adventure company Adrenaline Rehab soon, which is super exciting, lots of pictures to follow! More soon! Hi everyone! This weekend was a busy one for Forfar with the Angus Cycle Hub Cycling Festival taking place. This included the Forfar Funduro, Scottish Cross Country Mountain Bike Association (SXC) final race of the year and SXC women's coaching event.
The main event of the festival for me was the SXC women's coaching that I was involved with thanks to the Women on 2Wheels project. It was great to build my coaching skills with uber-experienced coach Diane Clayton Chisholm leading the session in the trails above the town of Forfar. The group consisted of women with varying backgrounds to cycling all keen to develop their skills towards their personal cycling goals and take their first steps into racing mountain bikes. The session consisted of cornering, climbing, descending and race tactics with the coaching being held on the taped out circuit for the SXC race the following day. By coaching in this environment, this provided riders an opportunity to experience the sort of technical trail features they may encounter during a race. This weekends coaching was part of a 3 part series within the SXC rounds in 2016. The programme was supported by Awards for All, Scottish Cycling and Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland with the aim for main coach Diane to continue the programme in 2017. Hi everyone! This weeks Snapshot Sunday is a first look at the new Kona HeiHei Race DL 29. The 2017 HeiHei features full carbon frame that weighs in at around 1800g (size M) and features the Fuse Independent Suspension design, eliminating the need for a pivot at the chainstay seatstay. The bike continues to feature a low standover with SRAM Centerline / GX / Guide components and Maxxis Maxlite 29 Tyres. The suspension setup is 100mm front and rear with the RockShox Monarch RL and Reba RL.
This HeiHei joins the race line mid range, and is ready to handle anything from technical XC courses to the local trails. One benefit that is extremely basic yet super important for most riders is frame space for a bottle cage, by comparison with the Process range which only allows a bottle under the frame. This bike will be Thomas's training bike in the coming months, and I am looking forward to seeing more of this years 2017 Kona range especially the other HeiHei Trail and Race bikes. More soon! Hi everyone! This weeks #snapshotsunday is some fresh shots of the new 2017 Five Ten Hellcat Pro in Pink. I took these shots a few weeks ago and I thought the same week as Eurobike would be a good opportunity to share them.
The shoes feature the same popular stealth sole, however the sole design is completely new, with the recess for the cleat being ofset to provide riders with a wider stance on the bike and so increased stability. The upper material looks durable and weather resistant, with the laces and velcro combination to keep feet secure. This weekend was Scottish Champs Enduro and lots of photos to edit - more soon! Hi everyone! Today is the release date for the new colour Ride It jersey from their ever popular women's range. Falling alongside their existing Purple and Mint options, this jersey in Pink is made of the same high quality and durable material, with the mesh underarm material to help in these warmer summer days. The jersey has also retained their unique detail of the lens cleaner for glasses (and cameras!) in addition to a side zip pocket which is big enough to fit an iPhone 6.
Head over to RideIt now to take a look at their full range (and see me featured in their women's clothing section!). More soon! |
